Summary
The Road to Emmaus: On the day of Jesus' resurrection, two discouraged disciples walked to Emmaus, discussing the crucifixion and empty tomb reports. The risen Jesus joined them unrecognized, explained how Scripture foretold the Messiah's suffering and glory—making their hearts burn—then, at supper, took, blessed, broke, and gave bread. In that moment, their eyes opened, they recognized Him, and He vanished. They rushed back to Jerusalem proclaiming, “The Lord has risen indeed!”
